Helen Jean (Moose)
Zwyghuizen was called to work with the Chinese and arrived in China in
1949, working with university students and Bible clubs which were
called Sunday Schools. Because of the war, she had to leave China and
along with many missionaries was able to get out safely.
Helen Jean
returned home for a much needed rest. A year later she went to help
a missionary couple with the Chinese in Djakarta, Indonesia. Her work
was with young people, ladies and Sunday School. The war moved into
Indonesia, ten years later, and again the Lord enabled her to leave
safely.
Helen Jean then
went to work with the Chinese in Canada, and later to Hawaii. After
that she worked in Baptist Mid-Missions home office with Time, TEE and
helped in other areas. While there she became interested in
Missionary Acres, picking out a future lot and planning her retirement
home. Then 1984 came, she had worked full time for 40 years and she
moved to her newly built home at Missionary Acres.
She spent 10 more
years working at the Mountain Park Baptist Academy as a ministry to
teach music, piano, organ and some drama. She also helped set up the
church library, Sunday School, and helped with the ladies work and
ladies prayer meeting in her home.
Helen Jean Moose
married Pastor Hilbert Zwyghuizen, and they continued to live at
Missionary Acres. Hilbert is now home with his Lord and Savior.
Helen Jean has a
newly published book of her work with the Chinese,
Daily Choices
For Christ.
