Evangel Baptist Church
Evangel Baptist Church is an Independent Baptist Church located at the main entrance to Missionary Acres. The Church is in fellowship with the General Association of Regular Baptist Churches (GARBC). The Church is completely autonomous from Missionary Acres and supports its own full time Pastor.
For those concerned about continued ministry opportunities during their retirement years, Evangel Baptist Church abounds with many special ministries for those whose health allows them to carry on a ministry. The church has a full program of outreach for children, teens, and adults. There are many ways to touch lives in the surrounding community. Ministry opportunities include: Bible Seekers Club, Teen Bible Study, Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Music, Nursing Home Services, Jail Services, Hospital Visitation, Ladies Missionary Fellowship, Men's & Ladies' Prayer meetings, R & R times with the teens, and Men's community breakfasts.
Pastor Mark Hunsberger and wife Linda, have a daughter Shanna and son Kevin living at home. They also have 3 married sons and 2 grandchildren.
The Hunsbergers came to minister at Evangel Baptist Church in 2001. They had prepared for the ministry at Elohim Bible Institute in New York, and Appalachain Bible College in West Virginia. They were accepted by Berean Missions as missionary candidates to Ecuador and studied Spanish at Rio Grande Bible Institute in Texas. When they were not able to get visas to enter Ecuador in 1983, they worked in Home Missions, pastoring in Astoria, Oregon, Bad Axe, Michigan and Cresco, Iowa.
