“A place where God’s faithful servants could retire and continue serving the Lord” was a concept that God laid upon the heart of a pastor from Chicago, Illinois, preaching the Word in the Foothills of the Ozark Mountains. Due to age and health concerns, Rev. Charles Emerson began searching for someone who would bring that concept to reality. In 1962, he donated 63 acres to Baptist Mid-Missions for this purpose.
Missionary Acres was the name given the project by Brother Emerson. In 1963, the work began with Rev. & Mrs. Duane McCrum as Administrators. The first retirees were Curtis and Grace Cochrane. Over the next 45 years the staff, aided by hundreds of volunteer workers, |

developed the Acres into the beautiful 118 acre retirement village that exists today.
Today the residents enjoy amenities that include: a 20 acre park, a 3 acre lake stocked with fish, three guest apartments, an exercise/health center and miniature golf. “The Fountain of Youth” exists in the form of our deep well which produces water voted “the best tasting drinking water in Missouri” in 2005!
In 1965, Evangel Baptist Church was organized. The Church supports its own full time Pastor. Ministry opportunities abound in the surrounding community. A full schedule of services, weekly nursing home services, and jail services |
