After officially beginning retirement / emeritus in January 1991, they served as station supply from then to July 2001.

On July 31, 2001, Wilma sustained a severe stroke the day before they were to begin their station supply ministry in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island (P.E.I.), Canada.

They sold their home in Comox, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada in October 2004 and arrived at Missionary Acres on December 1, 2004, to make their new home at #7 Missionary Acres.

All of their family living in the U.S., created the desire to look into Missionary Acres as a better retirement situation.  Due to the the high cost of travel insurance required when leaving Canada, it was difficult to have access to their daughter, Gloria, who has Parkinson's disease, as well as the rest of their family.

ONLY ONE LIFE, is the story of the Life and Ministry of Kenneth N. Steward, who served with his wife as a missionary from the famine plagued plains of India to the snowcapped Himalayas in the far north.  Whether caught in a hurricane in the Atlantic, a threatening mob in their village, or a horde of stinging bees that left Mr. Steward unconscious on a high hill, his story will grip your attention to the end.  Only One Life can be ordered directly from the author at #7 Missionary Acres, Silva, Mo 63964.
