John and Alma McKittrick, along with their children, were one of the first families to come to Silva, Missouri to work at and build Missionary Acres. John was born in E. St. Louis, Illinois, and Alma in Lesterville, Missouri. They attended Omaha Baptist Bible Institute in Nebraska. They served the Lord helping to start a church in Woodburn, Illinois, while John worked as an Electrician in radio and television sales and service. The Lord gave them 8 children. In 1960 they were commissioned as Home Missionaries with Baptist Mid-Missions, as church planters and church construction. During the years John built churches in Mt. Vernon, IL, Portage Indiana (with a parsonage), E. Gary, Indiana, Buffalo Grove, IL, Augusta, ME, and Iowa City, IA. In 1970, John served as the second administrator of Missionary Acres, as well as working in building and maintenance of the property. He served the Lord here at the Acres from 1970 to 1991. They retired in 1991, but John continued to work as he was able. Alma worked right along with John, in the building, and planting shrubs and trees, and helping in the overall development of our lovely Acres. John went home to be with His Lord in 2000, after contributing so much to what we enjoy today. Alma continues to be a faithful witness in the community and a sweet servant to all she meets. MissionayAcres.com is dedicated to John McKittrick by his daughter Jan who first had the vision to put M.A. on the web, and create a presence that would present this Work to the world.
